Message from the Chair of Applied Engineering Technology

Thank you for taking a moment to visit the web site of the Department of Applied Engineering Technology at the Virginia State University. The Department offers bachelor’s degree programs in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology, Information Logistics Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Also, the department offers a graduate certificate program in Project Management as well as an Enterprise Systems (SAP S/4HANA) certificate in Enterprise Systems. Engineering Technology area of study is exciting, challenging, and will continue to be an integral part of today’s local, regional, national and global economy.

As the Department Chair, I am committed to making the Department of Applied Engineering Technologychair-message-photo.jpg programs very relevant, current and valuable to our current and potential students in the area of teaching, research and service. Graduates in all our academic programs are highly sought after, and are very successful in both the private/industry and public/government agencies. Our graduates are employed by leading companies and governmental entities. Notable among these organizations are Dominion Energy, Boeing, Newport News Shipbuilding, Bank of America, Altria, Sabra, Wal-Mart, UPS, Fedex, the Federal Reserve Bank, Department of Defense, local municipalities and the Commonwealth of Virginia, etc. Our active Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) bridges the programs offerings with industry needs. Financial and intellectual support of our stakeholders (students, alumni, and industrial partners) are essential, and we will continue to work to improve these relationships in the years to come.
